The Governing Council

The general administration, management, policy decision and control of the affairs of the Federation vests in the Governing Council (GC) and the day-to-day administration, management and conduct of the business affairs of the Federation vests in and be the responsibility of the Office Bearers to be elected by the Members of the Governing Council from and amongst its members. The Governing Council consists of the President, four Vice Presidents, a General Secretary, a Joint Secretary, a Treasurer, and all representatives nominated to the Governing Council every year. The Immediate Past President is also part of the Office Bearers’ team in the next year after he or she demits the office of resident. The GC must meet three times in a year but usually meets four times. Its meetings are organised and hosted by local affiliates in different parts of the country. Standing committees are formed comprising a member from the Governing Council as chairman, each holding responsibility for one major activity of the Federation. These committees present reports on their activities to the GC at regular intervals. Past Presidents of the AIFMP also participate in these meetings.
